• Is a Ministry of the local church that:
       Meets the needs of children in the community
       Builds relationships between church and community
       Builds character
       Shares the love of Christ with children and families
• Meets 5 days a week (Mon-Fri), 1-2 weeks prior to start of school, 3 hours per day
• Provides reading support for children grades 1-6
• Reviews and reinforces reading strategies and skills
• Has small classes: 10 children, one instructor and one assistant per classroom
• Is arranged by 3 reading curriculum tracks based upon the child’s reading skills 
• Uses curriculum consisting exclusively of material written from a Christian perspective

• Many children lack exposure to literature during the summer months 
• National literacy rates have failed to improve in the last 10 years 
• Many children lack any knowledge of Bible stories, Biblical characters, and our Lord
• Camp Read:
       Supplements the need for improved reading skills in children
       Attracts unchurched families
       Is economical: all reading supplies can be stored and reused many times over
       Builds relationships with families, churches and the local school district
       Presents opportunity to engage children and families in other church activities
       Lets a child and their family know that someone cares
